The spirit of 2000 AD. A new generation of stories.
The77 is a homage to the energy and invention of classic British comics, especially 2000 AD. Its name nods to 1977, the year 2000 AD launched, and its beginnings lie in the 1977–2000AD fan community. Launched in 2020, it carries that enthusiasm into an independently published anthology of original stories.
Science fiction, fantasy, horror and adventure sit alongside one another, with established professionals and emerging creators sharing the pages. The appeal is that familiar anthology thrill: different worlds, distinctive artwork and another story waiting around the corner.
That connection to British comics runs through its contributors and projects. The publisher has worked with names including Steve MacManus, Ian Gibson, Pat Mills and John Wagner, while making room for newer voices. Its range has grown well beyond the flagship title, into retro comics, horror anthologies, collected stories and graphic novels.
