Description
An original edition of Tammy and Sally, dated 20 November 1971, from the early years of one of Britain’s best-known girls’ comics.
First launched in February 1971, Tammy absorbed the established girls’ comic Sally in April of the same year, becoming Tammy and Sally.
This issue features a particularly attractive illustrated cover showing a young girl preparing food in a kitchen, with a tear rolling down her cheek. The expressive artwork, bold pink masthead and warm colours capture the distinctive visual style of British girls’ comics in the early 1970s.
The front cover proudly advertises the publication as “The 40 Page Picture Story Paper for Girls”, reflecting the emphasis on illustrated serial fiction that made these comics popular with generations of young readers.
Published by IPC Magazines, Tammy and Sally combined emotional storytelling, drama and adventure in an accessible weekly format.
An attractive original publication for collectors of British girls’ comics, vintage illustrated papers and 1970s nostalgia.
Original 1971 comic, not a modern reproduction.
