Comics Around the World
Comics Around the World at Comic Moon
Across Europe and further afield, publishers, artists and independent presses are producing work with its own visual language, storytelling traditions and history, much of which is rarely seen on ordinary UK comic shelves.
Later this year, Comic Moon will begin developing Comics Around the World, a new part of our shop dedicated to discovering comics, graphic storytelling and interesting publications from outside the usual UK and US channels.
We’re deliberately not saying too much about it just yet. What we can say is that we want Comic Moon to become a place where readers can occasionally find something they simply weren’t expecting — whether that means an unusual European comic, an independent publication from further afield, a translated edition, or an original foreign-language comic that deserves a wider audience.
Publishers, shops, distributors and creators
We are now interested in hearing from people involved with comics outside the UK.
If you publish, distribute or stock foreign-language comics, graphic novels, bandes dessinées, fumetti, manga, small-press publications or other sequential art, we would be very happy to talk.
We are particularly interested in establishing direct relationships with smaller publishers and specialist comic businesses, including those whose books currently have little or no regular UK distribution.
We are not simply looking for the largest international titles. Part of the purpose of this project is to uncover interesting work, unusual formats and comics with a strong identity of their own.
Initially, this will be a carefully selected part of Comic Moon rather than an enormous catalogue. We want to learn what our readers respond to, develop relationships with suppliers and gradually build something worthwhile.
